the tooth fairy pouch recipe

the tooth fairy pouch was a pattern i designed for a beginning knitting class i’ll be teaching this may (ages 5-7).  ideal for little hands and short attention spans, it’s an item i thought the kids would excited to make to keep their treasured teeth in.

for this recipe you will need 7 yards of a bulky yarn of your choosing.  if you’re having a young child knit this, i would recommend a smooth, plied wool for easy handling.

1 set of US 10 straight needles

1 yarn needle

(optional: felt to cut out a tooth shape, a small button, and thread or floss to fasten the tooth and button to the pouch)

work even for 4” in garter

BO leaving about a 12” tail

fold the strip in half long ways and sew the sides together using the 12” by picking up the bars between ridges and using the whip stitch.  cut yarn and weave in ends.

for the tooth, you can cut out a simple tooth shape, place it on the pouch, lay the button on top, and sew all the layers together with floss or thread.  easy-peasy!
